The Top 2023 Interior Design Trends

A new year brings new resolutions and fresh interior design trends.

From the return of darker wood tones to calming cabinetry colours, we’re seeing spaces shift towards putting wellness center stage and creating homes that inspire relaxation. Ann-Marie has researched all of the top 2023 interior design trends for you, so all you have to do is decide which you might bring into your home decor this year.

Warm tones and rich stained wood

For the last several years the trend has been bright and white. This year warm woods tones and dark wood stains are making their way back into the spotlight. Walnut cabinets back! Everything from flooring to custom built-ins are going darker. Are you in?

Brass is back

Brass is the perfect complement to the warm wood tones and dark finishes we are seeing this year. From lighting fixtures to drawer pulls and faucets, brass hardware is here to make a statement.

Dark Countertops

While we’ll always have a special place in our hearts for a white quartz countertop, this year we’re seeing dark colours make their return. You’ll see bolder countertops, such as deep black with lots of veining characteristics, become the focal point of kitchen designs. This would make a stunning kitchen island!

Reeded Cabinets and Drawer Fronts

A sleek design element that's making a comeback this year reeded cabinetry. Add some texture to your drawers and cupboards with this trendy and natural look. Combine reeded cabinets with smooth flat finishes for a custom look that will add dimension to your space.

Curves Make A Comeback

From rounded islands to arched doorways and even curvy sofas, we’re seeing more and more curves show up in interior design this year. This softened approach creates a soothing space that entices you to relax and stay awhile.

Benjamin Moore’s Raspberry Blush

A beautiful and charismatic colour, Benjamin Moore’s colour-of-the-year is a vibrant shade of coral tinged with pink. Raspberry Blush makes a statement but is still warming and inviting. It’s the perfect accent colour for a living room, kitchen, or bath.

Picture Perfect Plastered Hood Fans

Staying true to the warm tones that are emerging this year, plastered hood fans will be a popular kitchen trend and a great way to add your own unique touch to your kitchen. The cool stainless hood fans we have seen over the past years will be replaced with beautiful custom plastered hood fans for a warm and upscale finish.

Vibrant Backsplashes

If you’re looking to make a statement this year, your kitchen backsplash is a great place to start. Textured tiles, bold colours, and amped-up patterns can be found in 2023’s interior designs.

Tip: If you want to go bolder but aren’t ready to make the full commitment, making a statement with just the backsplash behind the stove is the way to go.
