As a young boy, Jason, founder of Heronwood Cabinetry, worked alongside his grandfather and father, learning the value of hard work, creativity, and attention to detail — the belief that you can build anything you put your mind to.
Born and raised on beautiful Vancouver Island, Jason knew there was no better place to put down roots and raise a family. Though he began his career in engineering, he ultimately returned to his first passion, woodworking, drawing on the skills passed down through generations.
A quality custom cabinetry business of their own. A place where homeowners could connect with the people and products to make the dream vision for their home a reality.
Today, they lead a close-knit team of skilled artisans who oversee every stage of a project, from design to build to installation, with precision and pride.
As parents to two young boys, Jason and Ann-Marie are committed to showing their children the value of hard work, a strong connection to community, and the importance of pursuing your passion — that if you work with your hands, you will be proud of what you do.
Existing on a diet of small fish, these birds became an unwelcome pest to Jason’s grandfather and his beloved Koi pond. Fittingly, his grandfather was also known for his playful nature — always “pestering” friends and family with light-hearted humour. When the news broke to Jason that his grandfather passed, he stood alone in the kitchen and looked out to see none other than a heron looking back at him.
From that day on, Jason and his wife began noticing herons appearing regularly, often during times they needed strength or inspiration. When it came time to name their business, they knew Heronwood would carry not only the powerful symbolism of the heron, but also a part of his grandfather’s spirit.
