Community

We are a company rooted in family, dedicated to quality, and inspired by innovation.

As a young boy, Jason, founder of Heronwood Cabinetry, worked alongside his grandfather and father and learned the value of hard work, attention to detail and creativity, and the belief that you can build anything you put your mind to.

Born and raised on beautiful Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Jason could think of no better place to set roots for his own family. After initially pursuing engineering, Jason decided to follow his childhood passion, use the skills he learned from his grandfather and father and embarked on a life changing career move into woodworking.

After years of working with local millwork companies, Jason and his wife Ann-Marie dreamed of creating a client-focused, quality custom cabinetry business of their own. A business that would bring clients and community together, connecting homeowners to the people and products that would make the vision for their home a reality.

As a result, they cultivated a close-knit and skilled team that works side by side to oversee all aspects of the design, the build, right through to installation. The Heronwood team is committed to fulfilling its promise to deliver exceptional, high quality living spaces.

With two young boys, Jason and Ann-Marie are determined to show their children what happens when you combine your passion and commitment to community with a strong work ethic; that if you work with your hands, you will be proud of what you do.

Meaning Behind Heronwood

Growing up on Vancouver Island, Herons are a common sight along the shores of the open waters of the West Coast of Canada. Existing on a primary diet of small fish, herons became a rather unwelcome pest to Jason’s grandfather and his prize possession Koi pond.  Ironically, Jason’s grandfather was known for his comical ways; always a joker, he loved  “pestering” his friends and family with light-hearted teasing and fooling around.  When the news broke to Jason that his grandfather had passed, he stood alone in the kitchen and looked out to see none other than a heron looking back at him.

From that day forward, Jason and his wife started noticing Herons showing up regularly in their lives, often at times when they needed strength or inspiration. When it came time to name their business, they knew that Heronwood would carry with it not only the strong symbolism of the Heron bird, but a part of his grandfather’s spirit and passion.

When it came time to name our business I wanted to use the heron to pay homage to my grandfather’s influence on my work ethic and creative thinking. Every time we see a heron we think of him.
